On April 18th 1938, Action Comics #1 arrived in stores bearing the cover date as June 1938. This comic, by Jerry Siegal and Joe Shuster, marked the first appearance of the worlds first and greatest superhero, Superman! Since that first issue, Superman has gone on to conquer not only the world of comics, but radio, television, broadway, movies...and just about anything else you can think of. It would be hard to find a person on this planet that hasnt at least heard of him. It was the popularity of Superman that led to the creation of the superhero genre with literally thousands of characters created over the last 70+ years. So...Happy Birthday Superman!!!

Artist Spotlight: Adam Hughes
I've decided that any time I feature the artwork from a particular artist that I will be calling it "Artist Spotlight"...not terribly original I know, but it will make a little easier to search through the blogs. Anyhoo, today i feature the incredible artwork of Adam Hughes. Best known for his interpretation of comic book women, Adam at one time did interior pencils before becoming almost exclusively a cover artist. So here is a small smattering of his work. Enjoy!!!

The Launch
Anyone that knows me knows I'm all about the art. In particular the art of Animation and the world of graphic arts(comics). So I decided to start this blog to showcase all the things I think are cool and that I believe you should also think are cool ;) So, here we go...
I love DC comics...so much so that I've gotten two tattoos to show it. Coming very soon is the new DC comics relaunch, 52 #1's meant to bring the company back to basics and hopefully start a new fanbase to propell them into the #1 spot ahead of Marvel. Im a bit skeptical of the whole situation, but I admit they do make it look pretty cool especially when the amazing artwork of Jim Lee is involved.
Check out this great commercial DC created for the relaunch.
Well thats all for now. Until next time.
